Admirable Bapu Karia is a retired Indian admiral who once served in the Royal Navy during the war. He resides at the Lock Cottage with his daughter Dakasha (who refers to him as Bapuji, the Hindi term for "father") and his grandson Ravi.
Bapu always puts his naval experience to good use in everyday tasks and even speaks in naval dialect (examples include: "All hands-on deck", "Abandon ship", "Blow me down", and most frequently, "I'll be scuppered"). His voice is provided by George Layton, who voices all the other male characters.
