Joshua "Josh" Jones is a young man and the title character of the series whose main job is transporting goods on his canal boat Delilah. Fairport is his pet dog. It is assumed that he is aged somewhere in his twenties during the time that the series takes place. His voice is provided by George Layton, who voices all the other male characters.

- Like Fairport, Ravi. and Fiona, Joshua appears in all 12 episodes of the series.
- It is possible that Josh is related to Fireman Sam, as both characters have the same name of Jones. Josh is potentially a brother or cousin to Sam and Charlie.
